The first was the tragic loss of a co-worker who was murdered while traveling abroad by an unlicensed tour guide, a story that captured international attention. The second was when a violent carjacking unfolded in broad daylight, and I stepped in alongside my martial arts students to stop the attack and restrain the assailant until police arrived. That incident, too, was covered by major news outlets.
These weren’t just moments of shock they became a mission.
